These demos (actually the same executable running on different VRML
files) shows the innovative features of OpenWorlds, working with
Performer in bringing VRML capabilities to Performer.
With Openworlds you can load VRML files, and create your own nodes,
and further more create Performer-VRML nodes (Look at cartrack.wrl
or perftown.wrl)
Here are some instructions:
To run the demos:

Edit the scripts and change the LD_LIBRARY_PATH *only*. Make sure
you add the path for the standard Performer libraries and the database
loaders.
Then run the scripts.
Controls for owPerfCar:
-----------------------
The controls for this are very simple. Click on different parts of the
steering wheel to go forward and different directions. To stop the car, click
on the center of the steering wheel. Click on the top of the stick shift to
change directions. In order to change view points click on the "view"
buttons. Be aware that buttons may be slow to respond, but don't lose hope :)
Trying VRML files across the web:
---------------------------------
In case you need to set the proxy server, just change the script files
or from the shell, set OWPROXY. For example,
setenv OWPROXY http://bob:80/
And from the GUI tool or from the command line give the http location.
